On Saturday July 16th the fashionable and fabulous of DC put on their stilettos to celebrate the one year anniversary of Kenneth “KAS” Flannagan’s flagship store House of KAS located in National Harbor. The event began with a pre party for press and VIP guest attended by well known bloggers, hosts, stylists, celebrities, athletes and fashion designers. The waters of the Potomac glittered against the setting sun as the fashion show began, with curious onlookers hoping to catch a glimpse of the festivities. Sarah Fraser of the popular Kane Show and Onyx of reality fame hosted the event providing entertainment and humor to the fashionable crowd and DC’s who’s who.
The first collection created by Critique Boutique provided fashionable swim and ready to wear that combined classic elements of the 1940’s with modern day elements of drapery and design. My Bougie Baby, a collection carried exclusively at House of KAS took children’s ready to wear to another level. Appropriate, stylish, and all around adorable the clothes created can transition today’s girl into tween without the elements of over exposure or clothes that create a twenty something image through a thirteen year old teen. The show stopper in this collection was not however the clothes, it was the petite and full of attitude models. Ranging in ages from toddler to tween the toddlers brought their own pizzaz to the runway, giving walks that Tyra Banks herself would wave a finger to and proclaim as fierce.
House of KAS debuted his latest collection last, bring looks that looked toward the future with structure and clean lines, yet played with the idea of shape and volume on a woman. For his menswear he continued to emphasize the importance of structure with a well tailored suit. Yet played with color and pattern, breaking away from the traditional and paying homage to the days of our grandfathers who viewed wearing a suit as being the only idea of being well dressed. With every KAS event there is a purpose, on that evening he focused on the importance of raising awareness regarding the American Cancer Society, a foundation personal to both KAS and his business.
Fireworks filled the sky over the water to mark the close of the event, symbolic to KAS himself the fireworks captivated the attention of both onlookers and patrons. The anniversary celebration marked an amazing beginning to the continued success he will, without doubt experience, as he continues to make his mark both as a philanthropist and designer. KAS’s vision of recreating the woman and man in their way of dress by revisiting the days of glamour and sophistication can be truly respected and veered as necessary in an industry in which classic pieces are timeless and memorable, while fads fade away. A man who is truly passionate about his craft his emotion is felt in every garment, one truly believes he is a man who has dedicated himself to creating a line that doesn’t believe in flaws but only believes in perfection..and he has delivered.
In love and fabulosity,
